biography.

Young Amsterdam media designer JLS started out producing in 1996/7 with nothing more then a 386 pc and a floppy copy of Fast Tracker 2. Mainly influenced by early house, hip-hop from the Native Tongue Era, Drum&Bass , Jazz and many other genres, he created various soundscapes and compositions with his low budget income and computer. Not let down by this he kept creating sounds while starting out a multimedia collective called Prime Merdian: A crew of six that performed it’s vj shows in all the major clubs in the Netherlands and abroad. After 5 successful years, the crew went their separate ways, but JLS still enjoyed making music, finally being able to afford some equipment. The sounds evolved with the enigmatic musical times of the 90’s to a hip-hop centred sound with strong roots, but experimental and soulful at the same time.

JLS launched a new venture in 2004: Little-D Soundlab: A one man operated record label. The Soundlab focuses on producers, dj’s and designers that push boundaries within the musical/ design landscape, and to simply make nice music to listen too, genre-bound or not. In the years that followed Little-D Soundlab has grown steadily on- and offline via its website, releases, events and the radio show.
